About the Meeting

Who Should Attend?

The 52nd Annual Scientific Meeting is designed for physicians, psychologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals involved in the care of patients with head, neck, and orofacial pain.

Education Objectives

At the conclusion of this meeting, the attendee will be better able to:

  • Understand the most recent basic science and clinical knowledge base to headache medicine pertinent to practice in the 21st century.
  • Learn other cultural approaches and tools to headache management including alternative treatment (acupuncture, herbal medicine), and clinical and scientific views from the experts in Asian headache medicine.
  • Understand the anatomic pathways of photophobia in migraine. 
  • Understand the contribution of medication overuse to migraine progression.

Education Mission Statement

The provision of quality CME is a primary mission of the The American Headache Society® . The Society’s educational objectives are to continue to improve the knowledge, skills, and professional performance of physicians, psychologists, and other health professionals in the care of patients with head, neck, and orofacial pain by:

  • Providing a forum for presentation of free scientific communication on research and clinical practice.
  • Providing educational symposia.
  • Improving education in medical schools and residency programs.
  • Identifying and developing new educational initiatives.
  • Supporting educational programs directed to people with head, neck, and orofacial pain.
  • Maintaining strict adherence to ACCME guidelines.
  • Developing education activities and tools that are designed, and then evaluated, for their role in improving the learners’ competence, performance, and the overall quality and safety of the care they give to individuals suffering from head, neck, and orofacial pain.

Continuing Medical Education

AHS designates AMA PRA Category 1 credits(s)TM for the medical education activity the 52nd Annual Scientific Meeting for a maximum of 19.5 credits. Each physician should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Current guidelines state participants in CME activities should be made aware of any affiliation or financial interest that may affect the speaker’s presentation(s). Each speaker has been requested to complete a conflict of interest statement.

The names of faculty members declaring a potential conflict of interest and those who declined to sign a statement will be indicated in the conference syllabus. Additionally, financial disclosure information for all speakers is provided in slide format and projected immediately prior to each speaker’s presentation.
